Nintendo SWITCH Games Reviews

Nintendo rolled out Switch in the UK on March 3, 2017. They reportedly sold 80,000 units in its first weekend on sale in the UK, “double the number of Wii U consoles that were sold during its opening weekend (40,000 back in late 2013)” according to Christopher Dring of GamesIndustrybiz.com

We were looking around to get a feel for what the overall reviews were for Nintendo Switch Games to write a piece for you here but concluded you could get a better view by seeing who says what by clicking the individual links. We’ll jump right in though and tell you that our personal favourite game is (unsurprisingly) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.  It rates massively on most review sites so take it as a given that is the go to game for this medium.

As Gary Jones from the Daily Express says “Nintendo Switch games reviews are still in their infancy and it will be the coming weeks when we’ll get the majority of reviews from the main sites and magazines.”

Metacritic have a user score for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at the top of their list scoring 8.5 with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild right behind scoring 8.4.

Gamespot rate The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as an almighty 10 with an average user score of 8 with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim next on the list with an in-house score of 9 (superb) and a user score also of 9. Scrolling to the bottom and not doing too well, in their opinion is Syberia3 with a “Poor” score of 4. However, that’s a view not necessarily shared by their users who score it at 5.6

Overall, it’s Zelda all the way but there are other highly rated games if Zelda isn’t your thing. The creepily titled The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth gets a whopping 9 and is the Editor’s Choice at ukign.com. That’s a bit of a controversial choice as echoed by an Amazon reviewer who says “I cannot believe Nintendo allowed a game of such graphic depravity on their platform, even if it is in a cartoonish extrapolation”. It takes all sorts..

If you’re looking for a wholesome family game with lots of laughs, it’s hard to beat  Lego City Undercover. We totally agree with www.stuff.tv when they say “Some of the jokes and puns might be cheesier than a cheddar factory, but even the most hard-boiled of grumps will find it hard to restrain a smile.” They give it a rating of 4/5 stars.

Finally, for now, one that gets a 5 Star rating from Amazon users is Snipperclips. Here’s a sample:

“Only Nintendo could come up with something like this. Played with my daughter last night, couldn’t stop laughing. Nintendo = Fun”

Ok, one more: “Excellent puzzle game for one or more players, not too difficult either so good for a wide range of ages. The art direction in particular is superb. By no means a key title in the launch of the Nintendo Switch, but after Zelda, the one I have played the most.”

We’ll be adding more reviews as time goes on but would welcome your comments on your purchases.
